Built in 1874 for Governor Evans of native sandstone by George Morrison, a Quebec stone mason who came to Colorado in 1850 with his family and moved to Morrison in 1873. This imposing building had many names and uses during its long life; several are listed below. From 1884 to 1888, it was the site of Sacred Heart College. This building was replaced by the current Nursing Center in the 1970s; it was razed in 1982 after several attempts to save it.
